1. Vehicle Numbers President, Vice President and Prime Minister
The car numbers used to carry the President or Vice-President and the Prime Minister are not inscribed with the letters on the tablet, but bear the national emblem of Mr. and Mrs.. In English these cars are known as State Cars,
2. The Speaker of the National Assembly of Tanzania and his Deputy
The Speaker of Parliament also has his car with no number plate on his tablet but only S letter. The Deputy Speaker's car also has the letter NS only. The meaning of the letter S is Speaker and NS is Deputy Speaker
3. Principal Secretary
The Principal Secretary to the United Republic of Tanzania uses a vehicle with a CS-only label. If CS means Chief Secretary
4. Chief Justice of Tanzania
The car of the Chief Justice of Tanzania has the letter JM on its tablet
5. Chief of Defense Forces (CDF)
The car of the Commander-in-Chief of Tanzania in his tablet there are no numbers or letters but there are four Stars on the tablet of his car
6. Minister and Deputy Minister of various Ministries
The vehicles of the Minister and their Deputies have the letters indicating the rank (whether it is a minister or a Deputy Minister) and then they have abbreviations with the names of their Ministries. The Minister's vehicle has the letter W followed by an abbreviation of the name of his Ministry. The Deputy Minister's car has the letter NW followed by an abbreviation of the name of his Ministry
7. Local Government Vehicles
Local Government Vehicles, used in those Governments. The cars have a SM-shaped tablet followed by a number of different numbers.
8. United Nations Vehicles
This label carries the impression that the vehicle in question is owned by one of the UN agencies. Example World Health Organization (WHO). A tablet with a number starting with the letter T followed by a number with the letter CD then the number again.
9. Vehicles of various embassies in Tanzania
Embassy vehicles in Tanzania start with the letter T followed by the number and then the letter CD then the number. These numbers are also used by the relevant embassy staff even if they are Tanzanians. An example of an embassy is the United States
10. Public Organization. Example; TANESCO, EWURA
Vehicles used by Public Bodies have a plate (Plate Number) which starts with the letter SU and is followed by different numbers on the plates.

Vehicles used in overseas-funded projects have a DFP (Donor's Fund Project) tablet followed by a number of different numbers. Also unlike DFP you will find some have DFPA
12. Tanzania Police Vehicles
Police vehicles in Tanzania have a PT (Police of Tanzania) letter that is followed by a different number in front of it.
13. Tanzania People's Army Vehicles
Tanzanian Army vehicles have a number plate that starts with several numbers and then is followed by the letter JW and then followed by the number again.

23. Private cars
Private cars in Tanzania have a tablet that starts with the letter T then three digits follow and then three letters follow. These private cars can be commercial or not.
Also in private non-commercial vehicles it is possible to have a label that has an individual name.
